This series explores the fixation and stimulation of cigars and pipes. For years cigars and pipes have been associated with “hyper masculinity” in both the straight and gay world. There is a bona fide subculture prevalent in many communities and is sometimes directly related to fetishes. The sexual undertones in my paintings focus on how light captures the patterns of smoke as it billows around gloves, beards and the contours of the face.
